BREIF HISTORY OF ANNA UNIVERSITY:

Anna University was established in the year 1978 as a unitary type of University by bringing together and integrating the well known technical institution in the City of Chennai viz. The College of Engineering, Guindy (CEG), the Madras Institute of Technology, Chrompet (MIT), The Chemical, Textile and Leather Departments of the University of Madras, situated in the Alagappa College of Technology (ACT) and the School of Architecture and Planning (SAP).

The University has good computing facilities. Apart from several personal and mini computers in various departments, considerable number of computing systems including HP 9000 are available in the Ramanujan Computing Centre which works round the clock.
